Meet the Member: Chris Ross of Higgins Funeral Home

Last Updated 11/14/2025Posted in Business Spotlight

Chris Ross, Managing Partner of Higgins Funeral Home, works alongside Clay and Charles Higgins and a dedicated team devoted to serving families with compassion, history, and heart.

Founded in 1903, Higgins began as Higgins Brothers Furniture and Undertakers on the Fayetteville square. After several early moves, the business relocated in the 1930s to the historic Holman Home—the same site where it continues to serve today. Following a devastating fire in 1986, the building was rebuilt and reopened in 1987, allowing the funeral home to continue a legacy that now spans more than 120 years.

Today, Higgins Funeral Home provides full-service offerings including traditional funeral services, cremation, catered receptions, personalized life celebrations, grief support, preplanning, and burial services through Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens and Higgins Monument Company.

Chris says what sets Higgins apart is the team’s compassion and commitment—walking with families before, during, and long after services. Their care extends beyond the funeral itself, with ongoing grief support, planning assistance, and community outreach.

Community involvement is at the heart of the Higgins mission. Chris shared that joining organizations like Fayetteville Main Street allows the team to stay connected, support others, and help strengthen the community they call home.

Right now, Higgins Funeral Home is hosting a food drive in partnership with Hands of Mercy to support local families in need. Donations can be dropped off anytime during the week or brought to their special collection event this Saturday from 9 AM to noon.

Fun Fact: Chris is a third-generation Lions Club member and currently serves on the board of Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Services, continuing a lifelong commitment to service and community betterment.
