Meet the Member: Kathy Smith of Kathy Smith Associates

Last Updated 11/19/2025Posted in Business Spotlight

For 25 years, Kathy Smith has devoted her career to helping individuals create healthier habits, navigate emotional challenges, and make meaningful behavior changes. A Certified Clinical Sociologist and Master Certified Health Coach, Kathy’s work is rooted in compassion, education, and a deep understanding of human behavior.

Her practice began when Tennessee implemented a mandatory co-parenting class for divorcing parents with minor children. After seeing the need firsthand, Kathy expanded her services to include anger management, substance abuse education, parenting skills, and eventually a full range of health and behavior-focused programs designed to support long-term personal growth.

Today, Kathy specializes in behavior modification counseling, anger management, substance abuse education, weight management, nutrition and metabolism support, chronic disease specialty programs, and life coaching. Anger management remains her most frequently provided service, offering clients a structured and supportive path toward better communication and emotional control.

A fun fact about Kathy is her self-described title of “crazy cat lady.” What began with one rescued cat has grown into a home shared with five indoor cats, each bringing comfort and companionship, especially after the passing of her husband 5½ years ago.

Kathy enjoys the flexibility and independence of running her own business, allowing her to set her schedule, support her clients fully, and maintain strong working relationships with attorneys and courts who refer individuals to her programs.

She joined Main Street to stay connected with other local businesses and to remain an active part of downtown Fayetteville’s community.

Kathy Smith Associates is located at 106 College Street West, where Kathy continues her mission of helping people build healthier, more intentional lives one step at a time.
