Meet the Members: Jeremy & Lindsay Thompson, Owners of The Revolutionary Tavern

Last Updated 1/23/2026Posted in Business Spotlight

Jeremy and Lindsay Thompson are the owners of The Revolutionary Tavern, a one-of-a-kind downtown restaurant that blends great food, local history, and a deep sense of community. What began as a casual conversation in early 2025 quickly turned into reality when a downtown restaurant space became available. Drawing on Jeremy’s military background and lifelong passion for history, the Thompsons developed a Revolutionary War–themed concept rooted in Lincoln County’s namesake, General Benjamin Lincoln. The Revolutionary Tavern officially opened its doors in September 2025.

From the moment guests walk in, the tavern is designed to be immersive and interactive. Historic portraits line the walls, each paired with a QR code that brings the figure to life and shares their story. Jeremy often jokes that they are teaching history “65 seats at a time,” creating an experience that is both educational and entertaining for diners of all ages.

The menu reflects the tavern’s historical theme while remaining approachable and familiar. Dishes incorporate flavors inspired by the Revolutionary era, thoughtfully adapted for today’s tastes. The best-selling item, the Eggs of Rebellion, has quickly become a fan favorite—fried deviled eggs coated in panko, filled with a house-made mixture, topped with candied bacon, and served with the tavern’s signature sauce.

For Jeremy and Lindsay, the most rewarding part of business ownership is the people. From customers to staff, The Revolutionary Tavern has become an extension of their family. They were intentional in building their team, choosing individuals they consider family rather than simply employees. Their leadership philosophy is straightforward: take care of your people, and they will take care of everything else.

The Thompsons joined Fayetteville Main Street because they believe strongly in its mission. They credit the program with providing valuable information, encouragement, and confidence that helped them take the leap into restaurant ownership. They are grateful for the continued community support that has played a major role in the tavern’s success.

Five Heroic Favorites

  1. Harbor Shrimp & Grits

  2. The Commander’s Ribeye

  3. The Applejack Burger

  4. Benjamin’s Salmon

  5. The full drink menu, featuring craft cocktails and mocktails, local spirits, taps, and wines

The Revolutionary Tavern is more than a restaurant—it’s a gathering place where history, hospitality, and community come together. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, a meal at the tavern offers a taste of the past and a warm welcome in the heart of downtown Fayetteville.
