Meet the Member: John Woodall, President of the Lincoln County Museum Board

The Lincoln County Museum has been preserving our community’s history since 1985 — and John Woodall has been at the heart of that mission. The museum’s building, once home to the old Borden Dairy Plant, was generously donated by Bill Carter, a local construction company owner. The journey began when the Fayetteville Homemakers Club raised the first $3,000 by selling T-shirts at the county fair, planting the seeds for what would become one of Fayetteville’s most cherished landmarks.

John’s passion for history runs deep. “Preserving history,” he says, “is what drives me. This is where the real history of Lincoln County lives — not just on paper, but in the artifacts and stories we protect.”

One of his favorite events is the Pasta Premiere, the museum’s largest fundraiser of the year, which helps sustain the museum through the winter months. He also loves the Agriculture Room, which showcases early farming machinery and tools that revolutionized farm life — a natural favorite for someone who spent his career as an aerospace engineer. John’s fascination with mechanics and innovation shines through in his appreciation for how these early technologies shaped the region.

Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor, the Lincoln County Museum offers a unique look into the people, industries, and stories that built our community. Stop by to explore the exhibits, attend an event, and see why preserving our past matters for generations to come.
